Programming & Probability
For this project, our class explored probability through experiments, worksheets, and our very own video games. We learned how to use two-way tables, tree diagrams, and probability notation to conduct and express our probability analyses.
THE BENCHMARKS
These steps guided us through the process of programming our games and understanding probabilty.
Initial Game ConceptFirst we were asked to chose a game concept to work with. I chose a game called "Voltorb Flip" featured in Pokémon. This game was a good match for the project because the player has to use probability to form a strategy.
Probability AnalysisI chose to focus on the probability of uncovering a Voltorb in a spot with a ceritan column or row value. I used diagrams and probability notation to find the probabilities.

Description & ConnectionThe next stage of the project was to describe how we would implement our idea. We came up with possible aspects of the game that we could focus on for a probability analysis.
Star Logo Nova ProgramMy final project was a game created in SL Nova. Through making this game, I was able to work with a real-world application of the probabitity equations we were learning about in class.

How to Play
Reflection
This project has help me to "Stay Confident, Patient, and Persistent" and to "Start Small". Although I knew nothing about programming at the beginning of this project, that didn't stop me from persevering. I used the resources available to me, asking my teacher or peers and researching online, when I had a problem. I took diligent notes during lectures that I referenced in making my program. Knowing the limits of my abilities, I had to prioritize and set goals for myself. I learned to solve a simpler problem in a more open-ended math project than I was used to. The probability aspect was helpful for me, as I have identified probability as an area of weakness. Once again, I took diligent notes to help me process the nomenclature and problem-solving procedure.
